Featured Style: Enhanced Curly Mullet

With the launch of our new Control Cream, we reached out to Denny Rik from Bare Bones barbershop, a long-time UCDC member to tame a curly mop and this Enhanced Curly Mullet was born. A modern twist on a controversial classic, this cut takes the edge off unruly curls and really makes the curl pop with tight, controlled lines.

If you’re looking to tidy your curls this style is one to consider. Grab a photo and head to your local for a shape up. With mullets well and truly back on the menu, your barber will know exactly how to nail your preferred cut. Mix it up with a low taper or skin fade or keep it simple. Remember curls can be deceptive when it comes to trimming length, longer strands will bounce back so a light trim is more than often enough, keeping a little length on the top and back for a tried-and-true mullet.

Once you’re happy with the overall length and shape, Control Cream will do the heavy lifting when it comes to styling. “Control Cream adds moisture to take away frizz and help the curl pop back into its natural shape” said Denny, “It won’t weigh the curls down unlike traditional leave in moisturisers.”

How to Style an Enhanced Mullet

Nailing this style at home is easy: take a few pumps of Control Cream and spread evenly through damp hair. Use a diffuser to evenly distribute the heat while blow drying; activating the Control Cream to tighten and enhance your curls. Finish by pinching individual sections with your fingertips until you achieve your desired result.

What is Control Cream?

With its barely-there hold, Control Cream is ideal for frizz control, curl control and everything in between. From straight to curly hair, this lightweight styling cream is designed to smooth down frizz or enhance curls in natural styles.

Create an effortless, freshly washed look to curly, wavy or straight hair. Works as a curl enhancer thanks to its light hold properties.

For the best results, we recommend applying Control Cream to hair that has been freshly washed using Shampoo and Conditioner.

For curly hair, apply a generous amount, depending on how thick and full your hair is. Massage into damp or dry hair. A generous application to ensure an even spread benefits the consistency of the style and hold. There's a two-prong approach to styling curls; where some like to let the curls set naturally throughout the day with Control Cream’s conditioning and nourishing formula. Others like to use a blow dryer with a diffuser. A diffuser locks in the curl, adding volume helping to create a fuller, thicker look.
